Ana Willow Obermayr comes from a family of artists going back countless generations. Most recently in her line,
both her grandparents are retired professors of Art, and her father is a ceramic artist.
Obermayr has been blowing glass professionally since 1995, beginning in Seattle. She apprenticed there for 7 years, including studies at Pilchuck Glass School and a traditional European-style apprenticeship with a glass master, Maistro Greg Englesby, who also gave Obermayr a complete education in the design and building of fine glass studio equipment.
In 2002 she relocated to complete her Bachelor's degree in Fine Art at University of Miami, where she taught beginning glassblowing and also managed and designed for a glass studio that specialized in high-end projects for the interior design trade, (specifically cruise ships, hotels and restaurants) until 2007.
Obermayr now owns and operates Oberini Glass Design Inc. with her husband, Conar Piermarini, in Portland, Oregon. Oberini Glass Design offers complete design and fabrication services for anything glass related, to the interior design trade, and to the public.
Obermayr has been professionally teaching glassblowing classes since 2001 in Asia and America, and currently instructs beginning through advanced courses at a studio in North West Portland.
Obermayr's glass works are displayed worldwide, among fine collections in the United States, Asia, (including Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong), South and Central America, Dubai, UAE, and throughout Europe.
